{Cherry Pie...oh my!}

Cosmo Cricket has such great papers--one of my favorite lines is their Early Bird line that they brought out last year. I bought some Cherry Pie paper and have been hoarding them---why do I do that? Anyway, I needed to make a card for a dear friend---actually a family that is so dear to me. I had cards that would have "worked" for the occasion, but I had to make one for them---they are some of my favorite people. SOOOOO, it was time to pull out the said hoarded paper and get to work. It has been so long since I have tried to make a card that it was really slow going----fortunately, between these papers and Everyday Button Bits from Papertrey, this one was simple. Speaking of Papertrey---it's Anniversary time around there and you don't want to miss it---lots of give aways! So much creativity on this Design Team---go to Nichole's blog and take a look---and if you win anything, you MUST let me know so I can whoop it up with you!

The "occasion for the card" you ask? My friends are headed to Uganda to adopt their new daughter. You can read about their journey here.They already have three beautiful children, but when their oldest came home from her second trip to Uganda and asked if they would consider adopting a girl from there, they had to agree to pray about it. Eight months later and they are headed to Uganda to bring Edith home. It is amazing how God works and I am so excited to meet the newest member of their family. One of their friends asked a bunch of us to write a note to them to encourage them while they were there. They aren't supposed to open them until they get there---what a kind gesture---I wish I had thought of it!

So, this is my card for them. I'm trying to get one made for Edith today---we'll see if I can get that done! If so, I'll post it another time. Since I had so much to say, I left mostly white space inside---I used my Ranger distress ink to ink up the edges all over the card---the paper has this same look on the edges, so if you cut it you will need to ink it up on the edges. I stamped my cherry image with New Leaf ink and then added the Pure Poppy buttons with twine tied on. I cut this with a circle nestabilities die and then cut some of the cherry pie paper with a Labels Three die. I tied a piece of red satin ribbon around the paper and added a button and a tag. After I decided what to do, I finished it pretty quickly. I was so happy to get this finished. I tend to want to do these things, but my life takes over and I don't get to----

The details for the card are below. If you are one who goes before the throne of grace, I know my friends would love it if you joined with them in prayer that all the details will come together quickly for this adoption and they will be able to bring Edith home soon. Thanks for stopping by today!

Hugs~
Kathleen---yep, I'm a hugger!
