{God's Beautiful Creation}

Last Saturday, after a VERY HOT soccer game, Joshua found a butterfly on our mum by the front door. Joshua wanted to "catch him." As he approached, the butterfly almost called to him to pick him up....it was the craziest thing! Below is a series of pictures of what followed....

The butterfly climbed onto Joshua's hand.....

and up his arm (I missed part of the "up his arm" part---fiddling with my camera)

...as I saw the butterfly up close, I realized that he may have been around for awhile...

Joshua was enjoying this...so far....

Joshua: "Ok, he's getting on my neck...."

"....OK, he's totally on my neck..."

"...OK, uh, I think I want him off now...."

...putting him back in his place.....
As I looked at the pictures and thought about what a treat it was for all of us to have a butterfly "want to play", the Lord reminded me of the following passage from Matthew:

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

I know I often worry about all the "stuff" of life---but in seeing this butterfly, and how our gracious Heavenly Father has SO cared for it, it reminded me that my heavenly Father "knows that you (I) need them all (v. 32)", and He cares for all of my needs---

So, I've been resting in him this week and I wanted to tell you how I got there----I'm positive I won't stay there----this is a struggle for me, BUT, for the moment, I'm resting in the promise of God's precious Word--

Have a great day~
Kathleen

Great pictures and spiritual application, Kathleen. The butterfly makes me think of another spiritual application drawn by the camp director of Anna's camp this Summer: except for a few species, butterflies only have a week to live. That's their life. For them, each moment has to count. Shouldn't that be the case for us?

Thank you so much for sharing that, Kathleen! That is probably my favorite passage - for one who used to be a constant worrier, I finally realized that worrying tells God that I don't think he can handle my life! You were so blessed to be able to get those pictures! What a great God moment! :D
